This course was created through collaboration between the School of Geography and Environmental Science and the School of Education in Ulster University. Using free online software and freely available data, its aim is to introduce teachers to GIS (Geographical Information Systems) software and to develop teachers' skills in using GIS in the classroom. Ways in which the software can be used, and examples of real classroom activities will be demonstrated. The pedagogy associated with using GIS effectively will be explored and effective ways in which GIS can become an integral part of your teaching and the learning of your students will be examined.
